so i have been trying to get into things as a hobby--such as music. however, my most recent concert experience was on the upside a little traumatic and therefore i have decided that concerts are just not my thing at the moment. which leads me to movies. i already have books covered and in fact do not need to read anymore of them, if i do then i will completely and utterly fail all my classes due to extensive reading of books not on the required reading list. so back to movies, i just saw becoming jane (the one about jane austen) and loved it! mostly because it was amazingly funny in a completely british/english sort of way. and so immensely sad that i actual found myself beginning to develop tears...pathetic i know...but i couldnt help myself
so...my new thing is that i will go see any movie that anyone wants me to go to with them. this is mostly for scott if you can't tell...because he is always inviting many of us to movies and i've always been busy...so this is my resolution...to see as many movies as i can (and can afford) in the next year, both in theater, dvd or vhs.
--i want to see the last legion...it looks corny but then again im up for anything.-- |

the Landmark Theaters and anyone with a car will be your best friend in this case. Try to pick up one of the multi-use passes (which sometimes only work on certain hours of certain days for certain movies in certain landmarks but it's worth it). They show anything new and exciting among the Indie and Foreign scenes plus flashback midnight movie nights which are always a load of fun because it's mostly people as excited about the movies as you (plus quiz games w/ prizes at the beginning). There are three LM theaters in the greater SD area: Hillcrest(gets the newest/buzziest films), La Jolla (close to campus plus a good midrange assortment, and Kensington (the KEN, only single screen but has some hard to find films). These movies are usually in rotation among all three theaters.
Hope this helps some. I'm already getting my film withdrawals. |

The one in La Jolla is right next to where I live. It's a 15~20 minute walk from 6th. The AMC is across the street, which would extend the walk by 10 minutes...
So a car is not absolutely necessary, but it helps. |
