i'm done with about 80% completion on the first one and that's about as far as i'll ever get. It's definitely possible to beat it to 100% completion but it's very difficult with the touch pad.
but yeah, number 2 is coming out!!
めっちゃ! 太鼓の達人DS 7つの島の大冒険
it has RPG battle elements and a story line so this might be interesting, as well as visual cameos by オシリカジリムシ (the butt-biting bug), Doraemon, Anpanman, and others!! Also includes normal game play and versus modes. I don't know whether or not this one will have solo minigames, but the previous DS game did not.
